Introduction
This site documents the research work using AI to solve retail problems such as where to place a retail store in order to maximally impact competitors whilst at the same time trying to forecast the amount of business so that an appropriate size facility can be built. Using both artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques, various modelling strategies are explored with the results documented in such a way as to provide a running commentary of the research.
The research extensively uses SQL dbs and stored procedures (SPs) to house data. Where appropriate, software utilities are developed to help data processing, using mainly VB and C++ in a .NET programming environment. Finally, Python tool sets are used to implement the AI and ML algorithms and both display and analyze the results.
